143) Constructive Criticism

Hey, didn't we just have one of these updates like, two days ago?

Not much has happened since the last update, so let's talk about video games (NO NOT THE NEW DEVIL MAY CRY).

I played the demo for Metal Gear Rising and it was fucking AWESOME. The controls were a lot more simplistic than I though. Like, maybe TWO simplistic. I'm having a fairly difficult time adjusting, but I think I just need to keep playing. I love the amount of crazy shit you can do in the game, and the animations and combat are sooo silky smooth. See, this is why a game with intense combat NEEDS to be at 60 frames per second (god dammit i did it anyway). But really, I'm loving everything about this. Raiden's whole internal clash with his extreme edginess sounds great and meta as fuck, and I really can't wait to see how it all goes.

Nintendo announced a few new titles for the Wii U. The Wonderful 101 looks fantastic and will probably be the first game I ever pick up for the Wii U whenever we're rich and famous enough to afford one. A new Yoshi game was announced, and many people are complaining about the reused yarn aesthetic that it has. Yeah, it's kinda lame that Nintendo rehashed that look down to a tee, but really, it fits the Yoshi franchise. Yoshi's Island had a real crayon/colored pencil aesthetic and the whole theme behind Yoshi's Story was the paper mache pop-up book thing. The yarn and stitches look really fits the series.

Nintendo also announced an HD remake of Wind Waker, my personal favorite Zelda. For an HD remake, I think it looks spectacular, though many people are disappointed that they didn't take advantage of the technology to look even more cartoony. I'm sure we'll see some improvements in time, seeing as they've only revealed screenshots of areas and only three character models.

Not even sure what to think of Fire Emblem x Shin Megami Tensei. I'm only just now getting into Fire Emblem and I'm a super casual Persona-only player of the SMT series, so I have no idea how the hell that shit's gonna work. But hey, I like crossovers. Namco x Sega x Capcom is also getting a release here in the states, which I will BUY IMMEDIATELY. It may be the first thing with Capcom's name on the box that I buy in years.

X looks fucking incredible, and I still need to get on Xenoblade Chronicles.

WELL, THAT'S IT FOR VIDEO GAMES. Leslie's napping while I write this, so I'll probably go on and play some video games on the couch while she sleeps on me. See you next update!
