Yeah, good luck with that, buddy.

So, I'm finally over my birthday high. Thank you guys again for making this the best birthday I've ever had. Leslie also helped, of course. She made me a delicious Kirby-themed birthday cake and we spent the whole day just chilling on the couch, watching movies, playing video games, the works. I barely even got on my computer the whole day. It was a nice vacation from this screen...even though I ended up just sitting in front of a bigger screen. It was a bit further away from my eyes, in my defense. Less strain.

We watched Robocop and Birdman (the movie, not the attorney...or the original version of that attorney) for my birthday. Robocop still remains a damn near perfect movie. God, I love that film so much (thank you Thundahbeard for gifting it to us!). It's ridiculously brutal, the effects are still so god damn cool, and as goofy and campy as it is, it's just so fucking compelling. It's amazing how great of a character Murphy can be when the whole point is that his "character" is ripped away from him. If you haven't seen Robocop yet, track it down and watch it. If you have, eh, watch it again, it's still entertaining.

Birdman...is certainly an interesting movie. I can't really say much more than that without giving too much away. It's an excellent movie, of course. It's emotional, intense, and very performance-driven, but at the same time, I'm not sure how well it'll stick with me. It has a lot of questionable decisions that kind of take some of that oomph away, in my opinion. The ending is kinda weak (and takes away from what could've been a far better ending just minutes earlier), and I dunno, I might be the only person in the world who thinks this, but I do wish there was something in the soundtrack other than drums. The score is entirely drums, and it mostly sounds the same from beginning to end. It does a good job of keeping you on edge, but I just got tired of it after awhile. But again, that's just me, and I know many other people will probably love the drum score. Either way, it's a good, weird movie. Deserved all the attention it got.

SEE YOU ON FRIDAY
