Man, I haven't advertised a kickstarter in awhile, huh?
WELL STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING BECAUSE THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE YET
Everyone knows how much I love Megaman. Megaman's easily one of my most favorite characters ever. Hell, probably the most influential to me. Megaman was a huge part of me growing up. And for the most part, he's dead now. Capcom has him held up in their dungeon somewhere, and outside of his amazing inclusion in Smash Bros., he's not getting another official appearance any time soon. They refuse to do anything with him, and a great character is lost forever.
But now, original Megaman director Keiji Inafune has a new team, a new company, and a new character. He won't get Megaman back any time soon, but he can do the next best thing.
Mighty No. 9 is the spiritual successor to Megaman, including all the things that made the original games so great. The 2D precision platforming action, the multiple weapons, the nonsensical naming schemes, everything is here. Several team members from the classic games are onboard, including the original music composer, original level designer, and even some people from other studios Capcom killed way too soon, such as Bionic Commando Re-Armed and 09's Grin. There's a truly amazing team here, and they're clearly pouring their hearts into this project.
Several concepts are lifted directly from the now-dead Megamn Legends 3 Devroom, and the Kickstarter seems to rekindle that same feeling of fan participation with the game's creation. Even main character Beck's assistant, Call (what'd I tell ya about the names), has a design based off of the original fan-voted MML3 character Aero. Keiji Inafune has always had fans submit designs for enemies and characters starting all the way back with Megaman 2, and this project looks to do the same thing.
You have no idea how much I want this project to succeed. While not all of his ideas have been gems, my respect for Inafune is limitless. This is a man who loves his games and loves the people who play them. He's been chained down far too long and had all of his greatest ideas snuffed out by clueless corporate suits. But now he's free to make the game he and all his fans wanted for years. Megaman is dead, but his spirit lives on through Mighty No. 9.
DONATE TO THAT SHIT. SEE YOU WEDNESDAY
